Welcome to Pillars
Pillars is a training programme which aims to equip Christians for personal growth and strengthen their involvement in their local church. The Pillars curriculum has been designed to build believers with real spiritual strength, the kind of men and women who will be the “pillars” of the local church. It offers a unique combination of instruction days with online study and personal mentoring to provide high quality and accessible training tailored to meet the needs of individuals within their unique church contexts.
“Better leadership development has long been a prime need of our churches. Pillars promises to address the need in a really effective way.” Neil Summerton, PARTNERSHIP

Why participate in Pillars?
It is increasingly difficult to live for Christ in a world that aggressively opposes biblical truth. Many feel under-equipped to serve Christ in the complexities of local church ministry. Most struggle to find time to grow in Christ because of fast-paced lifestyles.
How does Pillars work?
Pillars is designed to be accessible to busy people in a busy world:
Three Saturdays per year – just three Saturdays per year, for three years. On these days all participants come together for a day of instruction. Just three Saturdays per year. But it’s more than that . . .
Blended learning to fit busy schedules – before and after each instruction day, participants will be able to study at their own convenience. Resources to supplement the instruction days will be available online. Participants can pursue Pillars training at a time to suit them. But they are not alone . . .
Mentoring for maximum growth – Pillars training gives participants online access to the teaching team. Furthermore, each participant will have a local mentor through the three years to provide encouragement and support.

Who is Pillars for?
Pillars is for Christians who:
- are hungry to know God more and to grow spiritually;
- desire to be equipped biblically, theologically and pastorally;
- are motivated to serve Christ in the local church (eg Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, home-group leaders, elders, deacons.)
What subjects will we study?
To thrive as followers of Christ and as participants in a healthy local church, Christians need the combination of biblical sensitivity, robust theology and practical pastoral skills offered in the Pillars curriculum.
Pillars includes study in three areas: know, reflect and serve. Know includes biblical studies and interpretation. Reflect includes theology, church history and apologetics. Serve is concerned with local church ministry, global Christianity and evangelism.
